The Municipal Solid Waste Segregation Plant is a facility that receives various types of municipal solid waste and separates it from the source in the form of paper, plastic, recyclable food waste, etc. And/or compressing or incinerating recyclable materials to generate useful heat and power. This system also has a significantly reduced sedimentation basin and is completely refrigerant-free.

In an effort to improve the level of municipal solid waste management, the Government of India has launched a program to set up 500,000 tone’s of municipal solid waste segregation plants per day in 100 cities. These plants are being set up by the central government with the help of banks.

The Municipal Solid Waste Segregation Plant is the first step in processing municipal solid waste into reusable materials. The plant consists of a feed tank, which opens into a conveyor system, primary shredder, belt reclaimer, secondary shredder and conveyor system and cutoff grinder.

The main factor in the overall efficiency of the Municipal Solid Waste Segregation Plant (MSWSP) is the waste collection system.
